SaaSHub Experts Info
About
The Experts section of SaaSHub is the core of our community. The mechanics are organized to incentivize objective voting for quality content. Respectively, content esteemed by the local experts will float organically to the top of the homepage.
Expert Levels
All users have an expert level that represents the trust they've earned in SaaSHub. Active users that have earned the most points will have their level risen up periodically - weekly for the first few levels and then monthly.
Newly registered users will have an expert level of 0. Their level will rise to 1 automatically within one day as long as they have earned 10 points.
The higher the level, the more weight a user's rating has. Voting weights follow the fibonacci sequence.
- Level 1 - 1 point
- Level 2 - 2 points
- Level 3 - 3 points
- Level 4 - 5 points
- Level 5 - 8 points
- etc.
The expert level also indicates the number of posts a person can make per day. For example, a new user with level 0 will have to cast a few votes and wait for one day to progress to level 1 before being able to post.
Casting a vote
SaaSHub users can cast a vote on all posts on the homepage.
Each vote has three options:
- Upvote - The post is GOOD or 'high quality'.
- OK - It is an OK post. Nothing super cool but not too bad.
- Downvote - The post is BAD or 'low quality' content. Only SPAM, inappropriate or unrelated content should be downvoted.
Expert Points
In a nutshell - you earn expert points by voting for content that others find valuable. Every time you rate a post, you state your opinion. Then, you will earn points (based on the expert level of the user) every time when someone else casts the same vote.
Respectively, if someone upvotes a post that's not deemed valuable within the community here, there is a high chance that people voting after them will cast a different vote. Hence, the unpopular rating would not bring any points to that person.
In this way, people will earn more points, level up, and have more influence with their higher voting weights when they vote objectively.
You can track how much points has earned each of your ratings by visiting your profile.
Points earned 3 months ago and older are cleared automatically.
Product on Focus
As a means to encourage and reward activity, all experts can set a Product on focus that will be featured along with their profile on the homepage experts-leaderboard. You can set yours by editing your profile.
The product on focus functionality allows you to promote your own product. That's one of the benefits of taking an active and positive part of the SaaSHub community.
